The design of this house masterfully strikes a balance between rustic charm and modern sophistication, creating a warm and inviting environment that fosters both comfort and creativity. To move away from the typical "Cabin in the Woods" aesthetic, it was essential to incorporate a diverse range of materials, including metal, stone, fabric, bone, and straw, alongside the predominant wood elements.

Studio Michael Ellison envisioned a home that resonates with both Upstate character and urban sensibility. The process began with whitewashing all the knotty pine walls and ceilings, which marked the beginning of a transformation that included new lighting, bathrooms, and doors/windows.
